Strong rumors are circulating from Cork and Scotland that St. Johnstone striker, Cork native and former Cork City FC star Graham Cummins could be headed back to Cork City FC.
He scored a sensational 42 goals in 62 appearances for the Leesiders but his last act for the club will live on in the annals of the history of the club.
Cummins (pictured lifting his shirt in celebration) scored a last gasp 94th minute winner at Tolka Park to pip bitter rivals Shelbourne to win the 2011 First Division title with the last play of the season. Just look at the reaction to the goal of the Shels’ captain in particular (and a few other Shels’ players also)! City’s Vinny Sullivan can be seen in the background checking for the linesman’s flag.
The lateness of the goal can be seen by the fact that the stewards (in orange jackets) are all in their end of match positions.
Considering what Cork City FC had been through, this is definitely comfortably up there in my top five all time favorite footballing moments!
